The Mechanics

The win on Saturday was really pleasing considering the circumstances. We had eight players missing for various reasons; so to come away with the win was excellent.

The performance again had glimpses of quality. In the first half we kept the ball well at times and the two goals, were belters! However, we made it hard work for ourselves at times, and their two equalizers were poor goals to concede. I didn't believe they deserved their penalty and fortunately for us, they missed it, then we held on for the win.

The lads know that they need to better overall in the full ninety minutes but we'll keep giving them the right messages and working hard to get what we want.

Looking forward to Tuesday, and the Nelson cup game, we have a couple of players back in the squad. However, we also picked up some injuries at St Helens so we are still very depleted. Nelson haven't had the best start to the season, and their manager recently left. They have signed a few players, so it is hard to know what we will be up against. It is going to be a tough fixture though, but we want to have a run in the cups if possible, so we will give everything we've got to win.

It would be great to see a decent crowd at the Mechanics Ground again on Tuesday. It was great to see such a big attendance for our last home game against Abbey Hulton. Please come along on Tuesday, whether joining the fans in the Tin Hut or whichever stand you want to go in!

Come On You AFCB!
