Dave Worthington gives us his thoughts on the 2-2 draw at Eccleshall on Saturday and he looks ahead to the tricky Halloween evening game at home to runaway League leaders Silsden in the First Division Cup:
After getting ourselves in a position in the game where we were in complete control it was a disappointing result to come away with the draw.
We started well in the first 15 minutes and got the lead but we then went sloppy in possession.
When we went 2-0 up with the penalty we should have boxed the game off from that position, but we defended as a team poorly, They deserved to get back into it, and could have won it in the end.
This is another example of a new team and what happens in games. We need to handle that type of situation better in the future and learn from our mistakes. On the positive side, it’s another point away from home.
Looking forward to Silsden on Tuesday, this is our last chance to get a win against the unbeaten league leaders this season!
We could have got something out of the game at their place recently and the lads must believe they can take the next step and turn them over.
We’re at home and the onus is on us. All your support will, as always, be much appreciated!
