MATCH REPORTS |
13th March Poulton Town v AFC Blackpool Today we travelled to Poulton Town for an eagerly awaited return game. We set our sights on retaining 2nd place in the league by getting all 6 points today, and went for it from the first whistle. Everyone was on top form and we attacked Poulton with style. Chance after chance went by, and it was looking like one of those days again where we did everything but score. The game was in the balance until Thomas found space and Elliot picked out a great through ball for Thomas to latch onto and bang in GOAL! The game continued to be a great battle . We made a few changes at half time knowing we needed more to finish the game off. Once again the team went for it and fought really hard. Poulton were dangerous at times but were no threat in front of goal with Dominic having to make only 4 saves all game. Our togetherness on the pitch was awesome and Elliot sealed the 3 points with a well taken goal. The game ended with a much deserved win, as everyone played with their hearts on their sleeves. Just like our motto Pride and Honour! Man of the match went to Jack for putting in a brick wall performance in defence, well done mate you were awesome! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 6th March AFC Blackpool v FC Rangers Today was our long awaited Coulton Plate Quarter Final clash against FC Rangers. We knew today would not be an easy 1 after watching how FC Rangers have improved since we last met. Both teams started the game really well and were battling for everything. Chance after chance on goal was slipping away for both teams in what could only be said as an evenly sided battle! We felt we had more shots on target but like so many games in the past we just could'nt score. HT 0-0. With a few changes at half time we felt we could nick this game. Once again both teams fought for everything but it was FC Rangers who broke the deadlock after a mad scramble in the box 1-0. We picked our heads straight up and kept going, knowing we still had every chance of winning this game. But FC were also really up for this 1 and if Dominic had not been in great form today we might have easily went a few goals behind. Dominic pulled off a super save which hit the crossbar and down onto the line! FC felt the ball crossed the line but the Ref was in a perfect postion to rule it out and Dominic scooped the ball up into safety. We tried to get a goal back but to no avail and the game ended 1-0. Man of the match went to Dominic for standing strong in goal and pulling off some superb saves, Well Done mate! We started the second game knowing we had to win 2-0 to progress to the semi-final and that was the target we set ourselves! Once again both teams were up for it but we looked more dangerous on the attack! Everyone was pulling together and playing great football. We finally managed to score after Kevin burst through the FC defence to bang it home. With the aggregate score now at 1-1 the game could've gone either way but still we looked stronger and the half ended. After a good talk, the team knew we needed 1 more and off they went! Our game kicked into play with everyone doing their jobs. Just then we were awarded a free kick just passed the half way line! Kevin stepped up and hit a better strike than last week GOAL!! AGG (2-1). Our confidence hit the roof after that and we bombarded FC's goal with shot after shot. Just then FC managed to clear their box only as far as Lewis who sent in a looping ball and into the top corner Goal! With the aggregate score now at 3-1 we finished the game quite comfortably and celebrated our achievement on reaching the semi-final. Man of the match went to Ellis who was a rock in defence keeping FC Rangers at bay, Well Done mate! This weeks player of the week went to Vinny for putting in 100%.. A massive congratulations to you all today! You played your hearts out and thoroughly deserve to be in the semi-final. But it doesn't end there! We need to stay focussed if were gonna get to that final, so back to training as usual with 100% commitment, and let's see what next week brings. Ethans mum Sue will be helping me and Russ from now on so i expect you all to be on your best behaviour and listen when she is coaching you. Were all very proud of every single 1 of you Well Done!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 27th February AFC Blackpool v Fleetwood Gym Today we hosted our first meeting against Fleetwood Gym. We started the game and controlled possession very well and created a hat full of chances but nothing would go in. Gym hardly entered our half but when they did Callum was commanding the back line so well that Jack hardly had to make a save. We kept up the pressure but still we could not score and the half ended 0-0. This game was still in the balance so we made a tactical change in moving Thomas and Ethan in their positions. The second half started and like before we controlled most of the possession. Then after almost 30 mins of football Ethan broke the deadlock with a beautiful well taken Goal. With it still to play for we made a few substitutions and carried on creating chances. That's when Sean sent Ethan a great through ball. Ethan went through 3 defenders to coolly slot the ball into the left corner. We stuck together for the last 5 mins and thoroughly deserved the win 2-0. Man of the match went to Callum who made some great tackles in defence and some good attacking runs with the ball. Well done mate keep it up! 13th February Blackpool Rangers Tangerines v AFC Blackpool Today was our first meeting with the Tangerines. The first game started and we took the game straight to them. Chance after chance was passing us by and when Rangers countered they looked like nicking the lead. It was definitely nail biting stuff but just then Sean popped up and scored his much deserved first League GOAL! Rangers kept coming at us but the half ended. After a good team talk we knew we needed more goals if we were going to win this as Rangers were really up for it!
The second half started much the same with both teams going at it. Dominic was pulling off some great saves to keep us at 1-0, as was his opposite number at the other end of the pitch! This game was still in the balance until we forced a corner. Sean took a cheeky short one with Kevin. Kevin went passed 3 defenders running at him to the edge of the box and chipped in a high ball which was just too much for their keeper, making just a fingertip save and going into the top of the net 2-0! Rangers kept fighting for everything and had a few chances to get this game level but Dom was on form as was Luke who was doing a fantastic job as the last man clearing his box, and the game ended with our first 3 points of the day 2-0. 23rd January AFC Blackpool v St Annes After a very long break today was the return game of St Annes. We wanted to get six points today for Ethan who is out due to an injury. We knew this would be a tough game and had to change the squad around with only 15 players available. The first game started and St Annes came out all guns blazing! For the first 10 minutes we couldn't get out of our own half as St Annes attacked with 5 players and the game saw an influx of corners as we defended for our lives. Dominic was doing a fantastic job in goal, keeping shot after shot at bay. We eventually managed to clear our line and Thomas had a great chance to put us ahead but it wasn't to be with the shot going just wide. St Annes came straight back at us and scored. We started again but St Annes came at us in numbers once more to score another . 12th December AFC Blackpool v Blackpool Rangers Dynamos Today was the replay against Blackpool Rangers Dynamos in the Coulton Cup! Our spirits were high and we felt we could win today. We started the first game by pilling on the presuure and were very unlucky not to grab a few goals. But the half ended with Rangers infront 1-0. We were still in this game and the second half saw much of the same kind of football with both teams battling for everything. Unfortunately for us we just couldn't score and the game ended after a superb game of football 1-0. Man of the match went to Vinny who put in a superb performance, well done mate!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 5th December Blackpool Rangers Dynamos v AFC Blackpool Today we travelled to B/pool Rangers Dynamos for our first game in the Coulton Cup! We have been up for this tie since it was announced and the squad had the eye of the tiger! We started the first game all guns blazing and took the lead through a well worked attack finished off by Ronan! The game was back and forth, which showed that both teams were playing well but by half time we still had the lead. We knew we needed more goals and we started the second half brilliantly, but it was Rangers who scored the next goal. Their confidence grew and they managed to score another! Had it not been for Dominic in goal, making two fantastic double saves we could have easily folded. But we kept going and had the chance to equalize with 10 seconds to go but it wasn't to be and the game ended 2-1. A very close game indeed! Man of the match went to Dominic who pulled off some of the best saves we've seen this season. Well done mate were super proud of you! With it all to play for in the second game, the team knew they needed to at least win this game 1-0. We went for it from the first whistle and came very close to scoring on a few occasions with Tom, Devan and Sean working really well together. Again the game was end to end stuff but it was Rangers who took the lead and the half ended . After a good team talk and a few changes the team knew they now needed to score 2 to force a replay! The defence stuck together and stopped any further Rangers attack which helped us counter attack and before we knew it Lewis banged in a goal. Oliver was working really hard in midfield and it paid off when he banged in a good goal to put us ahead. All we needed to do was hold on but Rangers came at us once more and scored an equalizer! This meant we needed another to get a replay or 2 more to go through to next round! The team fought for every ball and we never stopped running. Which was justly rewarded when Lewis managed to squeeze in another goal through a crowded box! With only minutes to go it was nail biting stuff with both teams working hard and another goal from either side could've ended the other teams hopes of going to the next round. But the game ended 3-2 and 4-4 on aggregate, which means we get a replay back at our home ground next week! Man of the match went to Oliver who worked extremely hard in midfield today, Well done mate keep it up! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 21st November AFC Blackpool v Warton Today was the return game of Warton Typhoons. After having a few weeks off we were definitely up for this one! The first game started and we dominated from the first whistle. Everyone was on fine form and played with true fighting spirit. Just like a few weeks ago the team played as one and looked awesome! Thomas opened the scoring early on in the game after missing the first game against Warton and Lewis came from out of nowhere to score an absolute cracker of a goal. Not a lot could be said at half time as the team had performed so well. We made a few changes and went for it once more! The game was certainly an entertaining one with both sides battling in the middle of the park, but up popped Tom and Lewis to get their second goals in this game. We kept up the pressure and when we got a corner Ethan swung in a power ball which was too much for their keeper and went in 5-0! Warton never gave up and kept trying which was rewarded with a fine last minute goal FT 5-1. Man Of the match was definitely a hard decision for this game but the Honours went to Joe who was a brick wall in defence. Well done mate you were great today! The second game started and Kevin beat his own record by scoring in just 8 seconds WOW! Vinny sent Kevin the perfect ball which Kevin controlled and lobbed their keeper! Definitely Goal of the Season Contender! From that we went on full attack and Kevin got a second while Elliot banged in another and could have easily scored more but for the crossbar and post getting in his way. We hadn't hit our peak in this game so we started the second half with even more determination. Our passing game kicked into play and we looked like the team we know we are. Kevin scored 2 more while Elliot got his second of the game and Ronan banged in one just for good measure. Warton again never backed down and kept coming at us. But Chanel was on fine form today and never let anyone get past her. She never backed down from a tackle and definitely gave Warton a lesson in defending. The game ended with a much deserved win 7-0! Man of the match went to Chanel who put in a great performance, Well done! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 31st October Warton v AFC Blackpool We travelled to Warton for the very first time today with the hope of getting another 6 points. Thomas was missing from the squad today and the team agreed we would bring home the points just for him. We started the first game brilliantly but like so many times before, we just couldn't find the back of the net! Both teams were fighting hard but the game was even at Half Time 0-0. With it all to play for we made a couple of changes and went for it once more. That's when Ethan scored his second of the season to give us a well deserved lead. 1-0. We stuck to the plan and all of a sudden Vinny popped up with a shot from the half way line, which found it's way through at least 5 players and into the net 2-0! Warton kept coming and managed to get one back 2-1. Ethan carried on creating problems for Warton, and with 7mins to go was awarded a penalty. But it wasn't to be with their keeper pulling off a great double save! We had to defend really well in the dying seconds as Warton gained confidence and kept attacking, but we managed to hold out for the win. Man of the match went to Pierce who ran his socks off and gave 110% today, Well done mate, keep it up! The second game started and our team just looked awesome!! We pressured Warton for every ball . Every one of our players on the pitch looked focused and passed the ball so well that there was no need to shout any guidance to them. All the coaching team could do was stand back and admire what the team was producing. Half Time 9-0! Even though we knew mission was accomplished in getting all six points for Thomas, we started the second half exactly like the first! Devan scored 2 goals to put him on 3 so far this season, while Elliot completed a Hat-Trick. Kevin was on Fire all game and got his sixth of the day, which brings his season tally to 20 in just 7 games!! The game ended with a fantastic result. Man of the match went to Jacob who put in an outstanding performance from start to finish. Absolutely superb mate keep it up! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 24th October AFC Blackpool v Poulton Town Today we hosted against Poulton Town, in what could be described as horrible weather conditions. During our warm up the ball was moving very quickly and our team knew they needed to stay focussed if they were going to get a win today. We started the first match just like we have been in training and it was definitely a good well fought game, with both teams coming close to scoring. We made a few changes at half time but Poulton took the lead with a well taken goal. Our team instantly picked their heads up and went on full attack! We passed, moved around and talked to each other which seen us nick an equalizer 1-1. But we weren't finished yet and we kept piling on the pressure. With only 4 minutes to play we managed to get the ball past Poulton's excellent keeper and held out for the win. Man of the match went to Oliver who has found his true form once more and commanded our defensive line, Well Done mate keep it up! With 3 points in the bag we were determined to keep up our winning ways and the team went at full steam from the off! Everyone was playing beautiful football and it didn't take us long to go into the lead. By half time we were on a roll and 4-0 up! We made our last changes for the day and went for it once more. We never looked like losing and again we scored 5-0. But Poulton to their credit kept coming and managed to score a well deserved goal 5-1. We went on full attack and should have scored another 5 but Poulton's keeper again was excellent. Poulton scored another, but we weren't done just yet and Pierce scored his first goal of the season and the game ended 6-2. Man of the match went to Dennis who put in a true brick wall performance, after stopping almost every Poulton attack. Well Done Mate your playing superb so far this season. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 17th October Layton v AFC Blackpool Today we played away to Layton with only one thing in mind, 6 POINTS! The first game started with us attacking from the off and Thomas was creating problems for Layton all over the pitch. He picked the ball up in midfield and sent the perfect ball to Devan who turned, kept his cool, and sank the ball into the back of the net to get his long awaited first goal for the team. HOORAY! HT 1-0. We started the second half making a lot of changes and the team kept up the tempo. It was a great entertaining game with both teams battling hard and Layton will feel they deserved at least an equalizer had it not been for a super save from Jack! It was nail biting stuff but the luck was with us for a change today and the game ended 1-0. Man of the match went to Ellis who put in a great performance in defence, well done mate!! With 3 points in the bag we started the second game full of fight! It took Kevin just 15 seconds!! to open the scoring in this game. From that we went from strength to strength with everyone doing their job and by half time Kevin had 3, and Elliot had matched him to get his first hat-trick for the team. HT 6-0. We knew we couldn't stop there and we started the second half exactly how we finished the first. Within no time we were winning 10-0 but the team lost concentration for a moment and Layton's girl striker got a well deserved goal. 10-1. That clearly didn't suit our team and we replied instantly with another goal 11-1. Again Layton's girl striker bagged another minutes later 11-2! But with only a few minutes to go Ronan finished off our goal spree with another great goal FT 12-2! Elliot 6, Kevin 5, Ronan 1. Man of the match went to Ronan who played his part in supplying some great balls for his team mates, well done!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 10th October AFC Blackpool v Blackpool Rangers Dynamos We hosted our second home game of the season to the current league leaders Blackpool Rangers (Dynamos). Before this game we were confident of getting back to winning ways after dissapointment last week. We started brilliantly and caused Rangers all sorts of problems from the first whistle. Our boys kept attacking but just like last week we wern't putting the ball in the back of the net! Thomas came close on a few occasions while Pierce missed a great opportunity, Very Unlucky! Half Time 0-0. With confidence booming we started the second half and kept pilling on the pressure but again no such luck in getting a goal. Then with 7mins to go Rangers caught us out with a great attack and put the ball in our net. We kept going for it but it just wasn't going to be our day and the game ended 1-0 to Rangers. Man of the match went to Elliot who was awesome in defence today even with an injured knee. Well done mate you were a true trooper!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 3rd October Kirkham v AFC Blackpool We played away to Kirkham today hoping to cause them a few problems after we played a fantastic game last week. A very windy day helped kirkham take the lead fom the off and they improved with every pass. Before we knew it we were 6-0 down at half time and our heads were really low. We made a few changes and the team knew they needed to wake up and try to get back into this game. With the wind now behind us we were unlucky on a few occasions not to score but as the clock ran down Kirkham scored again all hopes were lost. The game ended 7-0 but our boys will come back stronger and I think we learnt a lesson today in that we need to be sharp and on the ball from the first whistle, not just in the second half! Man of the match went to Dennis who fought for every ball and stopped Kirkham scoring anymore in the second half. Well Done mate you played fantastic!! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 26th September AFC Blackpool v FC Rangers Can I firstly say a big thank you to Karen,Sasha and Mary-ann for their help on Saturday. It was our first match at home and I could see everyone was up for it before we even touched a ball. Oranges From kick off we charged up the pitch shouting and passing to each other and within 2 minutes we were 1-0 up thanks to Kevin”Thunderbolt”Mcgow. This was to become the pattern of the game, every time the opposition got the ball we closed them down regained possession and looked like scoring whenever we entered their half. Lewis(man of the match) in particular shone, scoring two magnificent poachers goals and Vinny our central defender caused all sorts of problems for FC Rangers coming up for set pieces and shooting from range with two excellent goals. I must mention Dom whose presence in goal was awesome as usual. His fast reactions in spotting a player making a run unopposed helped us to score another goal. The whole team was brilliant on Saturday, so well done everyone. Whites What can I say?More of the same. FC Rangers came out with something to prove and put us under quite a lot of pressure to start with but our defence worked together and withstood their attempts on goal. In this game again the passing and shouting for the ball was great.Half the time I didn't need to shout instructions because everyone was doing their job. Ethan(captain fantastic and man of the match)was all over the place helping to defend, creating chances and scoring a great goal. Thomas led us forward making some excellent passes and scored a couple of strikers goals,he could have got five or six if not for last minute tackles and a penalty shout??? On the right in midfield was Ronan getting stuck in as usual, rock solid never giving up and didn't he get his reward WOW not one but two unBelieveable goals both struck from out on the right wing. When the first went in I couldn't believe it then the second from even further out. In defence Luke,Ellis and Chanelle were giants and Jack in goal had the easiest game so far Well done to all of you. Player of the week went to Shaun who always puts in 100% and listens to all he's told Well done Shaun. Russ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 12th September ST Annes v AFC Blackpool We started our first game of the season away to a strong team in St Annes. After some great training sessions we were hoping to create a lot of problems for them but it wasn't to be. We found ourselves 4-0 down at half time and things weren't looking good. We started the second half a bit better and Kevin fought his way through St Annes from the half way line to score a well deserved goal. Our spirits lifted for a while but St Annes came back to make it 5-1 and our heads dropped again. We managed to not concede anymore with everyone sticking together and the game ended 5-1.
